Congratulations! What a wonderful time in your life. Newborn sessions are my absolute favorite! Babies change so much in those first few weeks of life and I love being able to capture all of those little details you’ll want to remember as your child grows. Below are some frequently asked questions about my newborn sessions:
- When should I book my session?
I book a limited number of sessions each month so that that each client receives my personal attention. To ensure your desired session time, we recommend that you schedule your newborn session PRIOR to your baby’s birth. I will pencil your due date onto my calendar upon booking, then when your baby arrives, we’ll schedule a date 5-12 days after delivery if possible.
2. What is the ideal age for a newborn session?
In order to capture those sweet, curled up, sleepy images of your baby, it’s recommended that you schedule your session within the first 12 days after birth. Most of the beautiful babies on my website are 10 days or younger.
3. How long will my newborn session last?
Newborn sessions are anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours long as I like to leave lots of time for feeding & soothing if needed.
4. Where will the session take place?
Newborn sessions are done in my home studio. I have a huge selection of hats, wraps, headbands, buckets bowls, backdrops. Please let me know if you plan to bring some keepsake items like a quilt or knitted hats that have special meaning to you and you’d like to incorporate into the session. Safety always comes first, so I don’t photograph babies in glass bowls or in positions that could be harmful.
5. Is there a retainer?
A $50 non-refundable retainer fee is due at the time of booking and will be applied to the total cost of your session fee. Your session is not booked until your retainer fee is paid and you have signed your contract. I require this as I only book a limited number of newborns per month to ensure that early or late deliveries can be accommodated. Once you are scheduled, you are given priority.
6. Do you include family or sibling photos with a newborn session?
Absolutely! I have 2 affordable newborn packages to choose from. The “Tiny Treasures” package includes parents and sibling shots.
